A money mindset is your unique set of beliefs and assumptions around money.
Not only it impacts every single decision that you make about saving, spending, and handling money, but also shapes your beliefs around how much money you’re allowed to earn.
Your money mindset impacts what attitude you have towards other people, both rich and poor, which is reflected in your financial situation as well.
Do you believe that rich people are evil, greedy, and materialistic, unlike poor people who are noble, loyal, and virtuous?

WHAT CREATES YOUR MONEY MINDSET?
Your money mindset is influenced by many factors.
Limiting beliefs and a scarcity mindset often come from childhood.
The way you saw your parents talk about money has unconsciously influenced your belief system and attitude around money.
Perhaps, you’ve experienced arguments between your parents around money, because you could barely make ends meet.
Also, try to remember how your parents talked about money. How did they talk about other people and their money?
Did they spend money willingly or you heard them complain about high prices?
There are people who were born into families that believed that people like them just can’t get ahead, and to achieve something you need to be born lucky.
There are also people who grew up having generous and respectful parents, who’d developed positive money themselves.
Both groups of people had completely different experiences, which played a big role in their money mindset and world perception overall.
The good thing unlearning these limiting beliefs is possible.
You can create a more positive money mindset by controlling your thoughts and feelings about money, which then can help you change your reality.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING THE RIGHT MINDSET
Your brain is the strongest muscle that you have in your body because when it believes in something it is almost impossible to stop it.
Even if someone incites you with some undeniable facts, your mind will still believe in something that it wants to believe.
And if you have a possibility to change something that your mind believes, you can literally change your whole life.
And you can. You can teach your mind different thinking patterns.
For example, if most of the day all you think about your terrible financial situation and that you don’t have money, you’ll never have enough.
Like the saying of Lao Tzu goes:
“Watch your thoughts, they become your words, watch your words, they become your actions, watch your actions, they become your habits, watch your habits, they become your character, watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
Do you see now?
It all starts with your thoughts.
So, if you can start thinking that you have an abundance of money, you will.
Let’s get started with the steps that will help you make significant changes in your mindset.
CREATE A POSITIVE MONEY MINDSET
1. Identify your thoughts and past experiences that influence your money beliefs.
If you want to change your mindset around money, the very first step is to figure out what mindset you currently have.
To do so, you need to observe yourself and pay close attention to any thought, action, and behavior that comes to you.
Being aware of thoughts, assumptions, and experiences that you have around money and wealth will help you better understand where your beliefs have come from and figure out what has created them.
So, when it comes to money what thoughts do you have in your head?
Are any of these familiar to you?
- “I will never be able to afford anything, no matter how hard I try.”
- “I have to work hard to make money.”
- “Money doesn’t buy happiness.”
- “I have no control over whether I become wealthy.”
When you allow these beliefs to live in your head, you subconsciously block money from coming into your life.
Once you understand where your beliefs come from you can start working towards overcoming or changing those beliefs.
2. Reprogram your limiting beliefs.
You’ve been thinking it over and over again consciously or unconsciously to the point where it’s just second nature for you and you don’t question it anymore.
When you want to train your thoughts in a new direction, the best way to do that is to simply start practicing the new belief, which will help with removing the old one.
There are plenty of ways that you can use those beliefs but one of the easiest ways to do so is by using affirmations.

How the heck they could help me fix my mentality?
I’ve been skeptic about them, too.
I couldn’t understand how they might be of help for me in changing my life.
But, it’s all about practicing a new thought until it becomes a habit for you.
The more and the longer you practice it, the sooner you’ll be able to replace your old, limiting, often harmful thoughts with new ones.
Here are some of the positive affirmations that you’ll want to practice:
- I release any thoughts that hold “lack” and embrace thoughts of abundance.

You can’t emanate a lack and have a scarcity mindset and experience abundance in your life.
Remember, that you ALWAYS get more of what you already have.

- Write them in the present tense as you have already achieved your goal.
3. Educate yourself and read books that will influence your money mindset in a positive way.
Once you’ve got to know your thoughts about money and learned where those beliefs come from, it’s time to dive deeper into money
Because let’s face it.
Most of us haven’t been taught anything about money.
No one taught us to know how to handle and invest money.
We don’t know how to build wealth.
Most adults still don’t know how to properly manage their own finances till this day.
So, to build your confidence and feel comfortable around these topics, the best thing to upgrade your money mindset is to build knowledge in this area.

If you don’t really believe that you can do something that you want, doubting your skills, and thinking that you’re not worth it and don’t deserve the success, the chances of achieving your goal are greatly reduced.
The thing is, you can’t receive new things if you’re strongly attached to your past and limiting beliefs.
To change that way of thinking you need to expect that success and money coming into your life.
Imagine your goals from your personal perspective and, have faith that it can happen, and everything will work out in your favor.
Be open to welcome change in your life and remember that the only way something is going change in your life is if you change.

Making money is all about how much value you provide to others.
Your success is never about you and your performance and building your reputation.
It’s about other people and how they perceive your performance, and whether they’re willing to pay for something that you do.
Once you realize that, it will change how you pursue success in any area of your life. When you start to offer more value, instead of taking it people will be naturally drawn to you.
Remember that the only way to become richer is to create more value for others and doing the best you can to change someone’s life for the better.
The only one thing people ever buy is an improvement.
That’s all we want as humans.
Nothing more, nothing less.
People won’t spend money on things that will not improve their lives in any way.
When you start offering something valuable for your audience, your success will grow organically and people will start seeking more information from you.
Remember to never be someone that only takes. Be a person that gives.
If you do make that little mindset shift in your head, the results will transform all areas of your life.
6. Set goals and make a plan.
Just like it is with personal finances and creating a budget, setting your goals, and making an actionable plan is what is going to lead you on the way to creating a positive financial mindset.
When you’re setting your goals, I encourage you to dream big.
Don’t just say that you want to earn $3000 dollars a month if what you dream about is much bigger.
Once you know what your main goal is, you can get started with creating a plan that will turn your dreams into reality.
For that, you need to break your goal down, so it will be more achievable for you.
For example, if your goal is to have $100k in savings and now you’re still in debt, your goal can be too overwhelming, you’ll get frustrated and quit before you even get started.
But if you break it down and create a plan that will bring you closer to your goal each month, you will stay more motivated and keep a positive mindset during your journey.
7. Change your environment.
Changing your circle of friends and people you hang out with is going to be the hardest step in changing your money mindset.
But have you heard that you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with?
The people you associate with have the most significant influence on your life.
Let’s say that you want to stop partying and drinking and start a healthy lifestyle, but none of your friends share your opinion.
Do you think that by staying close to them you’ll succeed in your goal?
Chances are, you’ll never get started as your friends will get this idea out of your head.
The same idea holds true to wealth.
If you hang out with people who have a poor money mindset and struggle to make ends meet, you will think that getting ahead is completely impossible.
On the contrary, surrounding yourself with people who have a growth mindset, will inspire you and motivate you to improve yourself.
Your goal is to identify who it is you spend most of your time with and whether they have a positive or negative impact on your life.
If their impact on your life is positive, then spend as much time with them as you can. Also, finding more people with similar interests will help you grow even more.
But if you find you are spending all your time with people that drag you down, it is time to find different people to spend time with.
Money is not your enemy, a goal, or life-defining attribute.
Money is a tool.
It can take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as a driver.
